Ambulance staff in the inner cordon
Hazardous Area Response Teams (HART) are specially recruited and trained personnel who provide the ambulance response to major incidents involving hazardous materials, or which present hazardous environments, that have occurred as a result of an accident or have been caused deliberately.
Who we work with and what we do
They can work alongside fire and rescue services within the inner cordon, known as the ‘hot zone’ of a major incident. Their job is to treat casualties and to save lives in very difficult circumstances. They are also there to care for other emergency personnel who could be or may have been injured as a result of an incident.
About the programme
HART is a Department of Health programme and is now being introduced in phases across NHS Ambulance Trusts in England. The aim of this website is to keep you updated about the HART programme so why not save it to your ‘favourites’ folder and sign up for our e-newsletter?
